“It’s okay to go now.”

Kindness Love Teamwork

The Universe can be a funny thing sometimes.  Things happen that hit you with a jolt you just never saw coming. This story is about marble stones but maybe just a bit more…

You may recall a while back Brenda shared the story of the marble energy stones and why we were discontinuing them in her post called It’s hard to say goodbye.  We had been selling out of them pretty steadily but still had three words left:  Love, Kindness, and Teamwork.  We were mystified that Love and Kindness had not sold out earlier, as they tend to be among our most popular words and we knew a corporation or school would scoop up those Teamwork any day.

We have found that sometimes our stones or tokens just need a little extra energy to make things happen.  It is a weird phenomenon around here but if some items haven’t sold in a long time and we talk about them or move the items around in the warehouse, they start to sell in the next few days.  Keeping this in mind, last week I moved the marble stone storage bins around, gave them a few extra pats and said “Alright guys, it’s okay for you to go now.”

This phrasing “It’s okay to go now” has really powerful meaning to me.  Nine years ago, I lost my mother to pancreatic cancer and near the end of her battle, hospice care was called in.  The hospice workers were like angels who knew exactly what my mother needed, but also what myself and my brothers needed in that terrible time.  In Mom’s last few days, one of the hospice nurses advised me to tell my mom it was “okay to go now” so she could be at peace and not worry about us kids.  It was absolutely the hardest thing I have ever done, but also one of the most freeing for both her and me.

So you see when I told the marble stones it was “okay to go now” I truly meant that it was their time to go out into the world and touch someone’s life, if even for a moment.

The next day we received an online order for 200 each of the Love and Kindness marble stones.  I did a quick count and called the customer to let her know that we only had 175 left of those two words and she was happy to take them all and substitute glass stones to make up the difference.  I finished the phone call and whooped with joy that we had sold out of two more marble words and were down to just one.

About 15 minutes later it dawned on me that I had given the marble stones my special little speech the previous day.  Isn’t it amazing that someone out there heard me?  Brenda asked if the customer had said what they planned to use the stones for.  Suddenly, the hair on my arms stood on end as I remembered the customer saying “We are a hospice care center and plan to give these out at our upcoming event to remember all our patients who have passed in the last year.”

Oh my Universe, I hear you loud and clear.

Now, about that Teamwork

It’s hard to say goodbye

marblestonesgroup

Years ago when I first started this business, my first line of word stones were very similar to the picture above.  They were made of marble, and were etched with about 50 different words.  They were great sellers, but they needed some improvement and we eventually decided to design our own using a new manufacturer.  The line pictured above was born.  We call them Marble Energy Stones.

We eventually expanded our inventory to include words engraved or imprinted on river rocks, glass, pewter and even ceramic.  But as we grew our lines, the marble stones took a back seat.  River rocks became our #1 seller…I think because of their organic nature and price points.  The marble stones just weren’t holding their own anymore.

The shift happened about 5 years ago, and each year since, as we brought in new product and liquidated old, I would campaign to keep these marble stones that reminded me of how far we’ve come and carried a nostalgic weight.  Deep down I knew it was not business savvy to keep these stones.  But I have poured my heart and soul into this business and to give up on an original product seemed like failure.

That is, until we had so many other great, wonderful and fantastic products that we just don’t have room for those original stones.  We are beyond excited about all the new stones and tokens and pocket pieces we have in stock and in the works.  Our creative juices are flowing…we’ve got so much new energy and we’re so jazzed to spread as much inspiration as we can!

And so here we are.  I am ready to say goodbye to these marble stones.  And yes, they are ‘just’ stones, but they are more than that to me, and always will be.

~Brenda

P.S. These Marble Energy Stones are now on sale while supplies last.  A superb deal at $1.25/each (down from $2.50/ea)!  They truly are beautiful stones…deeply engraved with gorgeous swirls of color.   But I’m not biased.  😉

It’s spring! Out with the old and in with the new!

Who doesn’t like this time of year? Seriously, is there anyone? Explain yourself! We’ve had a long winter in this part of the world – mid-atlantic – and we are chomping at the bit for some new buds, warmer temperatures and a fresh perspective on the world.

Coincidently it’s springtime in our warehouse, too. We’ve spent the second half of the winter cleaning out our inventory, sweeping up the warehouse and tracking down new merchandise. We are very, very excited to be bringing in some fresh, new pocket tokens and putting some oldies but goodies in the clearance bin!

We are super excited about our new line of mini-keys.  These small keys are perfect to thread on a keychain or necklace.  Take that ‘Key to Happiness’ with you wherever you go!  Need to know the ‘Key to Love’?  No problem!  $1.95 gets you the answer!  😉

We also added a few adorable tokens to our Inspiration Coin line.  A favorite of mine?  An anchor that says ‘Refuse to Sink’.  Who can’t use a reminder to never give up?

Also new is the pewter Pocket Cross.  Simple, elegant and streamlined.  Slip it in your pocket for a daily reminder.

Kiss Me, I’m Irish!

Irish stones

March is just around the corner, and for those of us with Irish heritage that means we are one day closer to one of the best days of the year, St. Patrick’s Day! The great thing about St. Patrick’s Day is you don’t actually have to be Irish to celebrate it. Wear some green, find a local parade or drink a green beer – I am pretty sure no one will be asking for your genealogy report before letting you join in the festivities!

If you are looking for something to mark the holiday our Imprinted Glass Irish Stones are a perfect gift to give yourself or someone you know who loves all things Irish!
Item # DS5539 are $1.95 each and available in varying shades of green or white with green lettering.

I’ll leave you with an old Irish blessing:

“May the road rise up to meet you
May the wind be always at your back
May the sun shine warm upon your face
And the rain fall soft upon your fields
And until we meet again
May God hold you in the palm of his hand”

Give Someone Your Heart

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

The human heart is such a fragile thing. Besides being a major organ needed to live, it is what most people think about when talking about emotions and specifically, love. Yet I find it amazing how we end up throwing the word ‘heart’ around. These are just a few common expressions using the word heart:

Eat your heart out
Cross my heart
Break someone’s heart
Follow your heart
From the bottom of my heart
Change of heart
Heart of gold
Have a heart-to-heart talk
Know it by heart
My heart is set on it
Pour your heart out
Take heart

Thank goodness these are only expressions used to convey feelings!  Could you imagine having a ‘change of heart’ that didn’t require major surgery or what an actual ‘heart-to-heart’ talk would look like?

February is the month of love…give a little heart next Friday!

Red Glass Pocket Hearts – $1.95/each, but really, isn’t giving someone your heart priceless?

How Do I Love Thee? Let Me Count The Ways

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAOLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA3929

How do I love thee? Let me count the ways.
I love thee to the depth and breadth and height
My soul can reach, when feeling out of sight
For the ends of Being and ideal Grace.
I love thee to the level of everyday’s
Most quiet need, by sun and candle-light.
I love thee freely, as men strive for Right;
I love thee purely, as they turn from Praise.
I love thee with the passion put to use
In my old griefs, and with my childhood’s faith.
I love thee with a love I seemed to lose
With my lost saints,—I love thee with the breath,
Smiles, tears, of all my life!—and, if God choose,
I shall but love thee better after death.

Getting Creative With Our Forever Family Blessing Coin

shawnaforeverfamilyeditemilyforeverfamilyeditkristenforeverfamilyeditbrendaforeverfamilyedit

I have a friend who sells Origami Owl Lockets.  The company tagline is “Every Locket Tells a Story…What’s Yours?”  The idea is that you create a locket with charms or a necklace with dangles that represents your life.  I’ve created several themed necklaces (3 in fact…I’m kinda addicted) and I love them!

We recently designed a Blessing Coin with an adoption theme.  We call it our Forever Family Blessing Coin and it represents my own personal journey to adopt our son.  Turns out, it also works well with the Origami Owl dangles and a few of my adoptive mama friends thought so too!  The Happiness, Hope, Love, Tree of Life, initials, Karma, and Heart dangles all tie-in to this theme of adoption.  We all created our own special version of what adoption means to us and they are each just slightly different from the other.  I love that.

I also love that our products can be so versatile.  Whether you use our tokens as a necklace charm, a talismans for your pocket, a physical daily reminder of positive thoughts or just a pretty desk sitter – there is no limit to the energy they can create if you give them the power.

Tell us how you’ve created something with a token or stone.  We want to see!

Gone But Not Forgotten

5680

This weekend I will be attending two funerals. The first is for someone very young and the other is for someone who lived a long happy life. I have great sadness that they will not share this world with us anymore but find peace in knowing that both of them were truly loved and leave behind families that will forever be changed by their presence.

Death touches and affects us all, it is inevitable. I think it is how we choose to remember and celebrate someone’s life that is the true statement of human character. At these services their immediate family will be devastated and everyone will sit in silence and ponder our own existence and how precious life is.

I will be giving the In Loving Memory Pocket Token to a few people at these services. I can only hope the words inscribed on the back

“Gone, yet not forgotten,
although we are apart,
your spirit lives within me,
forever in my heart. “

will help them carry on in the coming days, weeks, and years without someone who meant so much to them.
